'FAT ANNIE' NOSE_ART by Gerry McLaughlin

This is a small file which will add 'Miss 1944' nose-art to David Henderson's Custom Air Services ATL 98 Carvair. This embellishment has recently been added to the real aircraft (see illustration included) and adds a bit of interest to an otherwise quite basic colourscheme.

I made the nose-art late one evening without really thinking it would be successful. I did'nt even use Paint Shop Pro or anything like that, only the simple Paint tool which is attached to the Bitmap when the texture file is converted with CHuck Domes TEXBMP utility. The colours are'nt quite correct, but I think it looks good. If you dont agree, just dump it! I dont know if the nose-art appears on both sides of the real aircraft, but it does in FS98!

INSTALLATION

This is how I would do it.

Navigate through FS98 until you come to the Carvair folder. (Obviously you must already HAVE this plane installed - it is available from Tom Gibson's excellent Classic Airliners site - or from the FLYING COLORS site). Open the folder and inside, make a new folder called 'NO ART' or something like that, then open up the TEXTURE folder of the Carvair and slide the following texture files into this folder.

    Custcarv.0af
    Custcarv.1af
    Custcarv.4af
    Custcarv.8af

You can then pull the folder down onto your Desktop, or send it to a Floppy Disk to keep it safe.
Next, take the folder marked FAT ANNIE and open it up. Inside you will find four texture files with the same name as the ones you have just removed. Put them in the TEXTURE folder of the Carvair, close all the folders, launch FS98 and Fat Annie should be there, complete with new nose-art. Admire it.

I have included four texture files, even although only one file has nose-art. This is because I touched up that file with a brighter white than the original, and I'm just making sure that all the colours still match.

LEGAL STUFF

The Custom Air Services Carvair is the copyright of David Henderson, Eric Johnson and all the others who contributed to the making of that great model. Copyright to the nose-art is mine.
Enjoy it all, but dont try to sell anything. If you think you can improve the colours of my nose-art, feel free.

OTHER CARVAIRS

Try some other Carvairs - BUAFCARV.ZIP (British United Air Ferries); AERLCARV.ZIP (Aer Lingus) available from www.flightsim.com. The Custom Air Services Carvair (which you probably have if you downloaded this file!) is available from Tom Gibson's Classic Airliners site or at:-
FLYING COLORS (http://pages.prodigy.net/davidstacy/zeusfs/home.htm). This site is worth a visit anyway!
